Capturing moments has always been a part of my life. My photography journey has gone through several phases over the years. At first, my camera was focused on my family. Every year, I would chronicle our annual adventures including every day life, special achievements and travel through photography and stories. I published our family memories in custom printed photo books. I was fortunate to make my passion for preserving memories a part of my career, creating custom albums for hundreds of families over the years.
Phase two in my photography adventure was focused on sports. When the boys got involved in competitive sports, I wanted to ensure these memories were captured for a lifetime, so I upgraded my equipment and proceeded to learn all about action photography. The boys athletic achievements are also published to showcase their hard work and dedication! My business expanded to include sports photography.
When the boys graduated, I decided to retire and was looking for the next chapter. Our move to Cochrane brought my camera out of retirement and marked the beginning of phase 3 in my photography adventure. It was the birds in my backyard that inspired “Nature in my Backyard”! I knew nothing about birds or bird photography. I found out really quickly that they were not easy to photograph. So like action photography, I am learning all about bird photography as I embark on my new exciting journey.
This new journey has opened my eyes to the beauty and nature that surrounds us in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It is teaching me patience, knowing that sometimes you are given the privilege to see amazing moments and not always being able to capture them. My adventures are usually close to home and I call the foothills “My Backyard”! I hope you enjoy reading the blog about my photography adventures and perusing through the variety of birds (along with the wildlife) that I have crossed paths with. My favorites are displayed in the gallery.
